Christmas, Seasonal & Holiday

Settin’ the (Christmas) table

December 31, 2011 by Elaine No Comments

Well, here we are. The last day of 2011 and my last Christmas post of the season! On to fresh new projects for 2012!

But, before we do, here’s a looky at our holiday table.

I showed you how I created the main centrepiece yesterday but let’s look at a few other details.

The place settings looked like this…

And a closer look…

For the first time ever I did place cards just for fun. Little snowy pinecones that held a name penned by my little guy. Okay, so he’s only 2 1/2 so perhaps I did it helped him. But regardless, cute no?

I looked EVERYWHERE for spray snow in a can the week before Christmas to give the pine cones a snowy flocked look but could not find any ANYWHERE. Argh. So I set out to create my own and did so with a combination of white spray paint, epsom salts and white glitter! I simply sprayed the cones (overhead so that the under side of the ‘branches’ weren’t white) then sprinkled heavily with the epsom salt and glitter. I layered this about five times!

Another great detail were these adorable mitten cutlery holders.

They are actually through Avon (my coworker sells it) but the way they came wasn’t going to quite work for the look I had in mind…

So I cut off the green ‘hook’ and felted button and found a replacement…

Every holiday table needs a little sparkle! I simply hot glue gunned these on and I had instant charm :).

Oh, and the red placemats you see are left over from last Christmas. They are a snowy reindeer theme and fit the colour of my table perfectly so I really wanted to use them. Unfortunately since they are only paper/cardboard I didn’t have enough for every place setting (lost a few last year due to spills) so I simply alternated them around the table. I think they almost have a ‘charger’ feeling layered on my fabric placemats.

And a bit more sparkle in the form of silver stars. My sister bought me these litle gems years ago that I simply scattered across the table.

And of course we had to have Christmas crackers too! I was enamored with these when I found them. Especially the faux wood grain…

because it not only matched my table cloth perfectly but the faux wood grain went amazingly well with my candles.

Do you see the wood grain on the red candle? Awesome. And it’s hard to tell in the picture but the bark has a shimmer all over it.

And a few ‘aerial’ shots… you know, so you can see the view point of any 9ft tall guests.

And a few more normal views… well, my actual view point as I sat down to our super yummy Christmas feast (thanks Chef Kev).

I hope you all have a very wonderful New Year’s celebration. Best wishes to you and your family for a prosperous 2012 filled with laughter, family, friends and above all, good health.

See you in the new year and thank you for taking the time out of your day to follow my little blog 🙂
